The IMI in conjunction with the OSU Architecture instructional program offers a unique masonry section in their class, in which students get the chance to draw and design a building out of masonry. During this instructional period, IMI holds a hands-on demonstration at the Bricklayers Local 55 OH building for the Architect students to see how clay unit masonry is installed.
After a few minutes of instructions and safety practices with mortar, students practice spreading mortar, throwing head joints, and laying of the brick with some help from bricklayers from Local 55. A special thanks to the Fort Hayes Career Center Masonry class for helping out with the demonstration.
