A variety of other materials and surfaces are also associated with the trade, Bricklayer. All apprentices work on commercial job sites, such as schools, high-rise office buildings, and more. The PCC work consists of but is not limited to caulking stone, expansion joints in block and brick. Cutting out of material such as caulking & mortar and replacing such materials. Work is done on scaffolding, swing stages, lifts, mass platform climbers, and sometimes ladders therefore working on heights is required. Work is active and often strenuous, with stooping and repetitive lifting.

If accepted, each apprentice will be required to attend classes held in Batavia, Ohio, either a 4-day, 5-week class schedule or a 5-day, 4-week schedule depending on the size of the class and the trade being Bricklayer or PCC. This is per year and all classes are an 8-hour workday. All classes begin on Monday morning. After class, the apprenticeship program will put you up in a hotel for either 3 nights for the 4 day class week or for 4 nights for the 5 day class week. You will check out on the morning of your last class for the week, go to the training center for that day’s class, and go home afterward.
